— What the great hotels know

Why a hotel bed
feels different.

It's six things at once. Most of which retail sheets quietly skip.

i.

Percale, not sateen

Crisp, cool, matte. The "I just checked in" feel. Sateen is silky for show.

1 over · 1 under
ii.

Long-staple cotton

Egyptian, Pima, Supima. Longer fibers spin smoother and stronger. Softer every wash, no pilling at month six.

≥ 34 mm fiber
iii.

200 thread is the hotel number

Past 400, mills spin thinner thread to fit. 200-thread percale outlasts 600-thread sateen. We use 220.

220 TC · Percale
iv.

GSM, not just TC

Grams per square meter. The metric hotels actually buy on. It's what makes a sheet feel substantial. Ours: 145.

130–160 g/m²
v.

Calendar-pressed

Industrial heated rollers fuse the weave flat. That's where the just-pressed feel comes from. Most retail sheets skip it entirely.

175 °C · Pressed
vi.

Replaced on schedule

The Frette in a Four Seasons isn't seven years old. Top hotels rotate at 12–18 months. We do too.

Hush Approved.

Guests notice the bed before anything else in the room.

The wifi works. The coffee's fine. But those pillows could be ten years old, and a guest would have no way to know.

Hush Approved is a verified bedding standard for AirBnb, Vrbo, and boutique hotels. Sheets rotated quarterly. Pillows replaced on schedule. A small card on the nightstand lets guests scan and see exactly when.

It's the only bedding signal a guest can verify before they sleep on it.

A badge guests can trust at the door.

Display the seal in your listing photos. Place the card on the nightstand. Guests scan, see the audit trail, and book with confidence.

I didn't realize how much I'd been sleeping through until the first new set arrived. It's silly how much better the room feels.

— Questions, answered

The fine print.

Can I really pause anytime?

Yes. One tap, pauses indefinitely. Skip a single shipment or pause for the whole summer — same button. No phone calls, no retention scripts.

What happens to my old pillows?

They ride back in the same box. We sort them — clean ones go to local shelters we partner with, the rest get processed by a textile recycler in the southeast. Nothing lands in a bin.

Down, or microfiber?

Both, your call. Our down is RDS-certified European white. The microfiber is a gel-fiber blend that holds up to repeated washing. You can swap fills any time without ending your plan.

Is this just a pillow service?

Mostly pillows, but the Whole Bed and Hotelier plans cover sheets, duvet covers, and toppers on different cadences. Anything you sleep on, basically — except the mattress.

Where do you ship?

Right now, anywhere in the continental US and Canada. Free shipping on every plan. Two-day arrival in major metros, 3–5 days everywhere else.

I'm an AirBnb host. How does Hush Approved actually work?

You sign up for the Host plan, $79 per listing per month. We ship hotel-grade percale sheets every 90 days and fresh pillows every 180 days, sized to your beds. You get the Hush Approved seal as a graphic for your listing photos and welcome book, plus a small printed card for the nightstand — guests scan a QR code and see the actual replacement dates of the linens they're sleeping on. It's the bedding answer to "verified host."

Are you actually partnered with AirBnb?

We're a third-party bedding standard, not an AirBnb-operated program. Hush Approved is something hosts adopt voluntarily because it visibly differentiates a listing — same way a host might advertise a Nespresso machine or a smart lock. We're in active conversations with major short-term-rental platforms about a more formal recognition; for now the seal is host-displayed, host-trusted.

What grade of sheets do hotels actually use?

The benchmark in luxury hospitality is 200–220 thread count percale, long-staple cotton (Pima or Egyptian), 130–160 GSM, calendar-pressed for that crisp finish. Our Hotel-tier and Approved-tier linens meet or exceed this — same spec families used by Frette, Sferra, and Standard Textile in Four Seasons / Aman / Rosewood properties. Most retail "luxury" sheets are sateen at 400+ TC, which feels softer in the bag but pills faster and sleeps warmer. The hotel feel is percale, every time.
